The Recent Taboo of Calling People
In recent years, it has become taboo to call someone without first scheduling a time to talk. I’m not sure when this happened, but it would seem that proper business protocol now requires an email exchange to mesh schedules for a call, delaying communications for days, sometimes weeks.
“Do you have time in the next few days/weeks for a call?”. This message starts the email volley. On occasion, the back-and-forth process to find a time that works consumes almost as much time as the call itself.
I suppose an email seems less invasive and intrusive, but I’ll argue that it usually does not save time. So, if you want to schedule a call with us at www.PrivateEquityInfo.com, we’re happy to do that, but we’re just as pleased to receive a completely unscheduled call. If we’re not available, leave a message and we’ll call you right back.
