International Private Equity Investing in U.S. Companies
We often hear about international financial institutions buying U.S. companies. Our data shows 5 – 7% of all U.S. portfolio company investments made by private equity firms are from international private equity firms.
That doesn’t seem like a lot until you consider that about 1 in every 16 private equity platform investments in U.S. companies is made by an international private equity firm. Does that seem like a lot to you? (Leave a comment)
Further, this percentage has held fairly constant over time, with an exception in 2016, which jumped up a bit. (Note: the graph below only shows 1 – 10% on the vertical axis. Therefore small, year-to-year differences are perhaps overly amplified visually.)
