For the first half of 2018, collectively, private equity firms acquired Software companies more than any other sector except Manufacturing. Here are a few sample transactions:

January 2018 – Sherwood, AR

Thoma Bravo acquired ABC Financial Services, Inc.

ABC Financial is a software and billing provider for the health and fitness industry. Its comprehensive software services include payment processing systems and advanced health club management tools, such as DataTrak, that allow gym owners and managers to track and manage memberships, member and employee schedules, other human resource functions and inventory control.


January 2018 – New York, NY

Audax Private Equity acquired Corsearch from Wolters Kluwer for $140 million in cash.

Corsearch is a provider of trademark establishment and protection software to large corporations and law firms worldwide.


January 2018 – San Francisco, CA

Parthenon Capital Partners made a major growth investment in Institutional Cash Distributors (ICD).

ICD is a software portal facilitating investments in liquid assets for corporate treasurers.


February 2018 – Fort Washington, PA

Pamlico Capital made a growth equity investment in Office Practicum.

Office Practicum is a provider of electronic health record and practice management software for use in ambulatory primary care settings.


February 2018 – Calgary, Canada

Battery Ventures invested in Curve Dental.

Curve Dental is a fresh, web-based alternative to dental software and a leading provider of SaaS Clinical and Practice Management software for the North American dental market. These solutions provide dentists with clinical (charting and imaging) and practice management (scheduling, billing and engagement) tools.


March 2018 – King of Prussia, PA

Warburg Pincus acquired a 55 percent share of the Lending Solutions business of Fiserv. Fiserv received approximately $395 million in net after-tax proceeds and retained a 45 percent equity interest in the business.

Fiserv Lending Solutions is a provider of software and technology-enabled services to automotive lenders and mortgage services.


April 2018 – St. Petersburg, FL

PNC Erieview Capital invested in Spirion.

Spirion is a provider of enterprise data-centric audit and protection software focused on accurately discovering, classifying, monitoring and protecting sensitive information.


May 2018 – Cincinnati, OH

ParkerGale Capital made an investment in Rippe & Kingston.

Rippe & Kingston is a provider of financial and practice management software for law firms.


May 2018 – Greensboro, NC

Spire Capital Partners invested in Dynamic Quest.

Dynamic Quest is a managed service provider for IT services to enterprises and mid-sized businesses. The Company’s services include hosted cloud services, disaster recovery, managed IT, software maintenance, application support, virtual CIO and security services.


June 2018 – Raleigh, NC

TA Associates acquired and merged Global Software Inc and International. Global Software was acquired from Thompson Street Capital Partners.
